i2 Networks is a subsidiary of Different Computing Limited incorporating the de-merged Networks and Internet services arm of differentcomputing.
Formed in 1997 Different Computing Limited has enjoyed many successful years providing highly sought after consultancy services in the areas of system development, security, system architecture, networking and support to large blue chip companies and Government departments. In 1998 it engaged in providing basic domain registration and web hosting services. In 1999 these services were extended to include dedicated servers, collocation, and connectivity to the Internet.
Unlike many Internet Services companies founded at the height of the "Internet Boom", i2 Networks Limited is not a virtual company. Operating out of leased data centre space in the heart of London's Dock lands. We own and operate our own infrastructure. Our 100% Cisco based network consists of the latest 7000 series Cisco routers and Layer3 Cisco switches. Our routers use BGP4 routing to multiple providers to ensure maximum network up times for our customers, and coupled with 24 hour traffic and status monitoring, we ensure that the network is always running optimally. Unlike some other providers, we take a care in maintaining spare capacity on our network to ensure fast response even at busy times. As members of RIPE, We can assign customers IP addresses either from our own range or are happy to accept your own Provider Independent ranges if you are moving from another provider.
The data centre itself is protected by redundant UPS systems with dual generator backup. Physical access is restricted by visual verification and proximity access tokens. Environment monitoring includes Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA), 24 hour CCTV monitoring and recording and in the unlikely event of fire, a full FM200 fire suppression system.
All our colocation and leased server customers connect directly to ports on our Cisco Layer3 switches using industry standard Category 5 UTP cables. Colocation customers also have the choice of a metered "Pay-as-you-use" service based on 95th percentile billing of transmitted data or via a committed access rate with bursting functionality at speeds from 256Kb, bandwidth guaranteed through our infrastructure to our boundary routers.
Our hosting infrastructure uses the latest high specification Intel Pentium based 1U rack mount servers. All our servers are dual processor models with high speed SCSI drives and average over 1GB of RAM per server, and run Red Hat Linux the operating system of choice for leading Internet service providers. The hosting platform is completed with the Sphera Hosting solution which provides industry-leading facilities using VDS technology for hosting customers and provides extensive reseller features such as branded user interfaces and access to the full XML API.
