|
ADSL - ADSL Interface. The product has an RJ11 socket and built-in modem which plugs directly into an ADSL enabled line (normally via your splitter), using the RJ11 cable (supplied). The Vigor2200USB (marked 'U') is a unique router which has a USB port to your existing ADSL USB modem; see product details for a full explanation.
Cable - Cable Modem Interface. The product has an RJ45 10BaseT Etherner socket which plugs into your cable modem or set-top box's Ethernet interface, using the RJ45 CAT5 cable (supplied). This is ideal for UK cable services from Telewest Blueyonder and NTL. The interface can also be used to route to any other type of Ethernet connected network, or another router, including another ADSL router such as a non-NATted ADSL router.
ISDN - ISDN Interface. The router has an RJ45 socket and built-in ISDN TA which plugs directly into an ISDN (or BT Highway) line using the RJ45 ISDN cable (supplied).
VPN - VPN Support. The router supports PPTP & IPSec based VPNs (virtual private networks) to teleworkers, other Vigor LANs or various other brands of VPN/Firewall devices. The Vigor2300 has an enhanced processor allowing up to 16 simultaneous IPSec/3DES or PPTP tunnels. See here
WAP - Built-in Wireless Access Point (WAP). The router supports the 802.11b Wireless Ethernet protocol enabling you to set up a wireless based LAN. The router has two externally mounted aerials for enhanced coverage. WEP (encryption) is also supported. Each wireless PC requires a compatible Wireless adaptor (PCI, PCMCIA or USB).
Switch - 10/100BaseT Ethernet switch. The router includes a 4-port switch (as opposed to hub) which automatically adjusts to the PCs speed. Standard RJ45 connectors. One port can also be switched to uplink (to connect to a bigger switch/hub), except on the Vigor2600 series where the ports automatically switch to uplink when required.
Print - ADPrinter Port & Print Server Capability. The Vigor2300 has a parallel printer port to which you can connect a printer and Windows based clients on your LAN can then print to it, releiving the workload from a particular PC.
